A friend is selling his quite rare neon blue E30 vert, with only 38k kms on it. Something like 1 of 8 delivered to Canada, or maybe all of North America, I can’t remember. He called BMW a few years ago so find out how rare it is, and it’s definitely pretty rare. I took a disturbing number of photos, for BaT reasons. You’ll probably see this one on there soon.
It’s surreal to ride around it, it’s like a time machine. Basically no signs of age anywhere on the car, it looks like it’s a year old.

My goodness where was that thing hiding all this time from the vape bros and yuppies? I haven’t seen one half that clean in years!
I looooooooooove that color and the matching cloth is just so perfect. Thank you for doing this photo dump at the cost of great existential pain.

Damn dude, awesome pics! Not to mention that car is unbelievably clean.
BTW where is that house?

Those photos are fantastic. Awesome work.
Your photo comments don’t make me feel optimistic about how throwing together the next Monthly Photo Gallery will be.

It’s a ploy to use slideshow! Actually I haven’t checked rights using slideshow though...
That’s a great looking BMW, awesome shade of blue!

I thought this car was really nice until I saw that interior. That cloth is freaking amazing. It will bring all the money.

Thank you!
My advice is to do them as you go, instead of all at once after they’re all uploaded

Probably.
I can tell this feature wasn’t thought out because why not just have the copyright nonsense in the window where you upload?

Thanks!
The car is really crazy clean, it’s as close to showroom as I’ve ever seen a car this age.
It’s Overlynn Mansion, in north Burnaby, part of the Seton Villa old folks home now

It was with its original owner until 4 years ago when my friend bought it, in a garage and only driven on summer weekends

Right? It should be an option to give all photos your uploading the same source/credit, or at least let you do one and select “apply to all” or something

I have been waiting on that. Kinja got you down? No worries but you do have a monumental undertaking ahead of you. I did that before it was necessary for that home photography contest I put together and it was not fun.

Nope, gallery and new challenge aren’t until the 14th

You had me with the color, and wheels, but that interior is a 20/10. I need it.

That is GORGEOUS.

I don’t know what I’m looking at but a 318i with an M3 badge on the front, no M Power on the valve cover, color ano treatment on the wheels, convertible, and probably a dozen other details big and small is not a thing that rolled off the assembly line. But whether it’s a real aftermarket prank or just digital construction, it does look pretty pretty sweet. I might lose the color on the wheels.

Wow that is TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITE!
The first E30 I that I had a drive in was factory fresh like that one. Not as cool, but definitely as crispy. It was a navy blue 325i sedan, an older guy pulled it up where I was working valet at some sort of wine and flowers party at an arboretum.
He was looking like every dude in a 3 series/911 looks as they approach a valet “Uh how TF do I get out of doing this? !”
I hit him with my standard “yawanna park it yourself?”
He said, “well I do, but my heart isn’t great and those spots are pretty far away...”
I said, “If it makes you fee l any better, that’s my vomit green M3 over there. If you like you can watch me park yours next to it and I’ll run the keys back to you so you don’t have to see me again.”
He smiled and handed over the keys. We had to drive the cars up what was basically a cascading switch back cart path to the lot. What a delightful little drive that was. Obviously it was slow but the path was tight enough to get a real feel for the handling dynamics. It was a time capsule. I have been shopping them ever since and this had to be at least 10 years ago.
I got to drive so many neat cars that night. Drove home with the notion that I must have an old bimmer, an E39m5, and a 911 at some point.
1/3

Damnit, now I want another e30. I think I’ll have to buy one in BC and drive it across the country to get a clean one.
Great photos, amusing commentary.

Interior is incredible.
Not a fan of color-matched wheels.
///M badge has to go...
Great photos!

Beautiful shots, never seen one in that color. Is that M badge original to the car? I think BMW (or at least dealers) put them on cars in various markets - I have a friend in Asia who for the longest time claimed his dad had an E30 M3 sedan because of those damn badges (this was pre-google)...of course it was just a 325i with an m-tech body kit and all the badges the dealer was able to stick on it. Was still a great car and still rare there given that 2.5L is considered a “big” motor in that part of the world.
Car looks great - personally would prefer those wheels to not be body matched. Basketweaves are so beautiful as is, the contrast helps too I think..
Thanks, pal - for making me miss my (not nearly as clean) E30 so early on a Monday mornin g.

You’re right, you don’t know what you’re looking at. Google “neon edition E30” or “M design edition E30”

The badge is quite possibly original, it’s the same that would be on the m-tech cars, and one of the names for this option was “m design edition”, but it also might’ve been put on by the dealer. The m-tech steering wheel makes me suspect the badge is original. Early dilution o f the m brand.
I also would prefer non coloured wheels, and I’ve only seen photos of a couple more with matched wheels, so I wonder if that was an option within this option, and most people just requested unpainted wheels

Im going to be honest, at some point I just started ignoring the photos and reading the slow descent into madness that was the captions.

But is it more rare than a Copper Red Mica minivan with a 6-speed manual transmission in the US? Hmm...

I don’t know for sure, but I know it won’t be cheap. At this point, almost any E30 with 23k miles on it has to be worth a decent amount, let alone a rare one. I’ll post the BaT link once that’s a thing

Oh and you’ve never seen one is this colour because it was only offered in 1992, on the convertibles, as part of this “m design package”. It was pretty much M3 money
